Data Package Description
The project Digitalization of Scholarly Communication: Discourse and Practices, Measurements and Identity Formations (DigiScholComm) is a research project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation and conducted by the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW). The project examined the discourses, drivers, organizational forms, and impacts of the digitalization of scholarly communication within the context of a changing social, economic, and political environment in science. In seven work packages, it addressed, among other things, various forms of self-presentation and self-description by researchers through the establishment of scholarly communication media. Additionally, it considered new actors and infrastructures, as well as their approaches to collecting and disseminating data on digital science communication. The data package provided here is based on expert interviews conducted as part of the subproject Digital Visibilities in Appointment Procedures (DigiVisib). This subproject aimed to explore how universities take digital visibilities into account in decision-making processes of appointment procedures. The data package includes 13 interviews with professors who are experienced members of appointment committees. In addition, it contains the interview guides used for data collection, the transcription guidelines, the invitation letters used for field access and the informed consent.
