Data Package Description

The project 'Pathways of Refugees to German Universities', in short: WeGe, was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from April 2017 to March 2021 as part of the funding line 'Study Success and Study Dropout I'. The project investigated the challenges faced by refugee prospective students in preparing for university and the factors that influence whether preparation for university succeeds and a transition to higher education is completed. Data from the three sub studies (2x qualitative, 1x quantitative) were published in separate data packages.
The present data package contains scientific transcripts of qualitative interviews with participants of study preparation courses of selected study colleges and universities in Germany. The interviews were oriented to the episodic interview method. 18 persons were interviewed, 11 of them twice. Topics of the interviews included the situation in study preparation, the study decision, and study entry.
