Abstract

Der Beitrag gibt zunächst einen Überblick über den aktuellen Wissensstand und das Ausmaß von Promotionsabbrüchen in Deutschland und leitet auf Grundlage des Abbruchverlauf-Modells von Franz (2018) wesentliche Ursachen für Promotionsabbrüche her. Anschließend werden das theoretische Modell mit der aktuell verfügbaren Datenlage abgeglichen, Lücken in den Daten identifiziert und auf dieser Basis die Voraussetzungen zur quantitativen Untersuchung von Promotionsabbrüchen ausgearbeitet. Ziel ist die Klärung der Frage, welche Daten perspektivisch erforderlich sind, um Ursachen und Folgen von Promotionsabbrüchen adäquat untersuchen zu können. (DIPF/Orig.)
