Key components of the study include access to higher education, structural aspects of the course and progress of studies, the economic and social situation (financing of studies, living expenses, employment, housing conditions) as well as topics in the field of activity of the German National Association for Student Affairs and socio-demographic characteristics. Over the course of the structural reform of the Bologna Process, the proportion of students of “new” courses of study in the sample of the 20th Social Survey has further increased compared to the sample of the 19th Social Survey. The implementation of “G8” in several federal states between 2009 and 2012, which reduced the duration until high school graduation from nine to eight school years, as well as the nationwide suspension of compulsory military service in 2011 allowed for matriculation at a lower age. less

Key components of the study include access to higher education, structural aspects of the course and progress of studies, the economic and social situation (financing of studies, living expenses, employment, housing conditions) as well as topics in the field of activity of the German National Association for Student Affairs and socio-demographic characteristics.  Due to the structural reform of the Bologna Process being well-advanced when the study was conducted, it comprises a significant proportion of students of the “new” courses of study. As another characteristic of the 19th Social Survey, 60 percent of the surveyed students were studying at a higher education institution charging general tuition fees. less

The core of the Social Survey incl... moreudes questions on access to higher education, structural characteristics of studies and the course of studies, the social and economic situation (financing of studies, cost of living, gainful employment, housing situation), topics relating to the fields of activity of the Studentenwerke as well as socio-demographic characteristics. The data from the 18th Social Survey provide a snapshot within the process of the Bologna reforms, which, for the students, was primarily associated with the introduction of a tiered study structure. At the same time, the legal conditions for the reintroduction of general tuition fees had been created in seven federal states ("Bundesländer"). A supplementary questionnaire for students with children was used to examine their particular life and study situation and, for the first time since 1991, to present it in a special report. less

Students at different universities in Germany were surveyed in 2016 about their study success in the study called "Studying successfully" (Erfolgreich Studieren, (Estud)). The study focusses on explanatory mechanisms of primary effects (social class achiev... moreement gaps in university grades) in higher education. The questionnaire comprises items on motivation, competency beliefs, social integration in the academic field, study habits and environmental conditions of students. Students from 18 universities in 11 federal states of Germany took part in the web survey. While the first wave focusses on a variety of different theoretical constructs for students with some study experience, the subsequent second wave is aimed at collecting those constructs for the first waves' first semester students. Additionally, some time variant items were administered to the entire population of the second wave. Currently, the first wave of Estud is available as SUF. less

The project examines the introduction of the new degree program for elementary school teachers (LAGS) and special education teachers (LAS-G) at Universität Hamburg in the winter semester 2020/21. The first two cohorts in the years 2020-2023 were surveyed. ... moreParticipation in the study was voluntary.It is a longitudinal study with two measurement points, a baseline measurement at the beginning of the winter semester 2020/21 or winter semester 2021/22 and a second measurement after four semesters at the end of the summer semester 2022 or 2023. Since it is compulsory for most students in the LAGS to study the subjects German and mathematics, a measurement of characteristics with regard to these two subjects took place at both measurement points. For this purpose, separate subject-specific online surveys were conducted for German and mathematics, which recorded similar constructs using similar instruments. The data from the baseline measurement and the measurement after four semesters were linked to form a data set using an anonymous personal code generated by the students. Variables were collected in the areas of socio-demographic characteristics, students' study potential, study success criteria and study behavior. These are the following study success criteria, which are mentioned as examples for the subject German, but were also collected analogously for the subject mathematics: Subject knowledge of German, knowledge of German didactics, academic self-concept with regard to studying German, enthusiasm for German as a subject, self-efficacy in teaching German and satisfaction with courses in German. The intention to drop out of university was also surveyed. less

Development and dissemination of research data management at Universities of Applied Sciences (EVER_FDM)

The survey was conducted as a standardized online survey that primarily covered three topics: Awareness, activities and needs regarding research data management. The sample included all Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) in Germany (full coverage surve... morey) and the target groups were professors and research assistants at these institutions. Initially, one person from the presidential board/rectorate as well as one person responsible for research data management (RDM) at each UAS was identified and contacted by e-mail. These persons were asked to forward the questionnaire link to the research-conducting staff at their university. This way, 2,456 people from 109 UAS were recruited to participate in the survey. A pretest ensured the quality of the questionnaire. The preparation and analysis of the data was done syntax-based using Stata. less

The Social Profile of Scholarship System

The data set contains the information provided by the participants in the online survey, which was conducted in October/November 2008 among all grantees of the eleven organizations for the promotion of the gifted. Different instruments were used for recipi... moreents of study grants and recipients of doctoral grants. The data from both sub-surveys were cumulated into one data set. The data set contains 9,540 cases, including 7,947 participants with a study sponsorship and 1,593 with a doctoral sponsorship. The survey covered the following topics: Study and doctoral sponsorship, educational origin, migration, sociodemographic characteristics, university access, study/doctoral characteristics, income, employment, and study-related mobility. To enable comparability of the findings with the population of all students, the questionnaire was methodologically closely aligned with the 18th Social Survey, which had been conducted in 2006. less

DZHW Panel Study of School Leavers 2018 - Educational paths of school leavers with a higher education entrance qualification

As a rule, several survey waves are conducted at different times before and after the acquisition of the higher education entrance qualification. Accordingly, this is a combined cohort-panel design. The panel 2018 is the 21st cohort of the survey series of which the data of the first survey wave will be published first. One of the main focal points is the topic of diversity, with a particular focus on migration background. Another special feature of the panel 2018 is that, for the first time within the survey series, school principals were also surveyed in addition as part of the first survey wave. less
