Data Package Description

The project "Organising, Teaching and Learning Digital Higher Education (digihub.org)" is a research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and carried out by the universities of Halle-Wittenburg and Paderborn. The aim of the joint project was to empirically reconstruct the change in higher education triggered by the switch to online teaching during the Covid 19 pandemic at both an individual and organisational level.
The data package made available for re-use is based on the qualitative expert interviews conducted as part of sub-project 3 ‘examining teaching’ at Paderborn University with professors who have developed and implemented innovative ideas in their teaching through interaction with digital technologies.
The interviews were conducted between March and September 2023 and focused on the description of teaching concepts and planned future adjustments, the motivation for teaching commitment and any role models, questions about organisational support in the implementation of teaching concepts and ideas as well as challenges and solution strategies, the understanding of ‘good teaching’ and related changes in the context of the digitalisation of university teaching. Additionaly, the extent to which changes in society as a whole have an influence on the design of teaching and which changes to improve teaching should (or should not) be made in the coming years (at their university) from the interviewees' point of view were also discussed.
In addition to the 18 interviews with professors from different career levels and disciplinary cultures, the data package includes the data and methods report, the guidelines used for the survey, the transcription guide and the data protection and consent form.
