The project 'Pathways of Refugees to German Universities', in short: WeGe, was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from April 2017 to March 2021 as part of the funding line 'Study Success and Study Dropout I'. The project invest... moreigated the challenges faced by refugee prospective students in preparing for university and the factors that influence whether preparation for university succeeds and a transition to higher education is completed. Data from the three sub studies (2x qualitative, 1x quantitative) were published in separate data packages. The present data package contains 13 scientific transcripts of expert interviews with study preparation staff at selected preparatory colleges and universities in Germany. The topics of the interviews included the experiences with study preparation for refugees in comparison to study preparation for other international study applicants. less

The project invest... moreigated the challenges faced by refugee prospective students in preparing for university and the factors that influence whether preparation for university succeeds and a transition to higher education is completed. Data from the three sub studies (2x qualitative, 1x quantitative) were published in separate data packages. The present data package contains scientific transcripts of qualitative interviews with participants of study preparation courses of selected study colleges and universities in Germany. The interviews were oriented to the episodic interview method. 18 persons were interviewed, 11 of them twice. Topics of the interviews included the situation in study preparation, the study decision, and study entry. less

Quantitative sub-study: Survey with refugees and other prospective international students 

Survey Period: Oct 1, 2018 - Apr 30, 2020 Survey Data Type: Quantitative Data

The project 'Pathways of Refugees to German Universities', in short: WeGe, was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from April 2017 to March 2021 as part of the funding line 'Study Success and Study Dropout I'. The project invest... moreigated the challenges faced by refugee prospective students in preparing for university and the factors that influence whether preparation for university succeeds and a transition to higher education is completed. Data from the three substudies (2x qualitative, 1x quantitative) were published in separate data packages. The present data package contains the data from the quantitative sub-study. Data were collected by means of questionnaires at selected preparatory colleges and universities in Germany. The study participants were invited to take part in two repeat surveys in online mode. Topics included study preparation learning, learning success, aspects of integration, and well-being. The data package includes the associated longitudinal data set. less
