The aim ... moreof the study is to gain a comprehensive impression of the situation of students at state universities in Berlin during this unusual semester. What challenges are the students facing? What is their employment and financial situation like? And to what extent is it possible to study successfully under the given circumstances? These and many other questions are the guiding principles of this study. In order to gain a realistic picture of the situation of students at state universities in Berlin, approximately 12,000 students from 11 state universities in Berlin were surveyed. The results of the survey are relevant to numerous measures in the fields of higher education, education and social policy and should enable research to examine various questions arising in the course of the corona pandemic. less

Together with the 21st Social Survey, the survey best2 forms a building block for the creation of a data basis for the legal implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN-BRK). In addition, the data from the best2 study - also with regard to the HRK recommendation "A Higher Education Institution for All" - provide important steering knowledge for higher education managers, consultants and other higher education policy actors for breaking down barriers. best2 is a joint project carried out jointly with the German National Association for Student Affairs (DSW) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The DZHW cooperated closely with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna (IHS), which already conducted the first data collection on the situation of students with disabilities and chronic illness in 2011, on the implementation and evaluation of the survey as well as on the preparation of the report. less
