In this way, an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the respective national frameworks in international comparison can be made. The main users of our findings are higher education policy-makers at national and European level, researchers in this field, managers of higher education institutions and - of course - students all over Europe. less

It is a cross-sectional survey of adults implemented through the Social Scien... morece Panel. The sample was drawn from those panel participants who were no longer listed as students. The questionnaire consisted of questions on demographics, school- and subject-specific as well as general academic motivation (ability self-concept and intrinsic value), prior knowledge of subjects, Need For Cognition, and perceived similarity between school and study subjects. less

Qualitative sub-study of the "VORAUS" project

The project "VORAUS: Further developing established quality assurance formats: Which VORreservations and consensuses does a partially randomised SELECTION of research projects encounter in the scientific field?" was funded by the BMBF from April 2019 to Ma... morerch 2022. The study investigated reservations and consensus in the scientific field regarding partial randomisation. On this basis, it was clarified what is currently considered appropriate in science. Prior to a quantitative survey on the topic, the data from which is also available as a data package (DOI: https://doi.org/10.21249/DZHW:vorausquanti:1.0.0), problem-centred interviews were conducted with scientists from different status groups in the qualitative sub-study. In a narrative part of the interviews, the interviewees were asked about their path into research. Questions were asked about their experiences with research funding, their attitudes towards ensuring scientific quality in research funding and the randomised selection of research proposals. The present data package comprises a total of 18 transcripts of six interviews each with professors, post-docs and doctoral students. less

Professionalization in theological conversations. A qualitative sub study of the projects PRONET & PRONET²

The data package consists of transcripts of Theological Conversations carried out classrooms, which were collected as part of the two large-scale projects of the Kassel teacher training program 'PRONET' (PROfessionalization through NETworking) and 'PRONET²... more', integrated into the "Quality Offensive Teacher Education", which is funded by the federal and state governments with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Within the two large-scale projects, the research data presented was collected more concrete within the framework of the sub study “Professionalization in Theological Conversations as the Basis for Cross-Phase Networking in Teacher Education” - the title of the first project within the PRONET framework - and “Networking of subject-specific science and subject-specific didactics in the Professionalization in Theological Discussions “- the title in the second project phase of PRONET. In Theological Conversations, the pupils and the teacher get into conversation about large and often existentially significant theological questions (Freudenberger-Lötz, 2007). The presented research data was qualitatively-empirically collected and consists of transcripts of Theological Conversations, which were led by students: integrated into two Kassel research workshops (Freudenberger-Lötz, 2013) and a research seminar, students led Theological Conversations about different theological content with pupils in different grades. less

The project invest... moreigated the challenges faced by refugee prospective students in preparing for university and the factors that influence whether preparation for university succeeds and a transition to higher education is completed. Data from the three sub studies (2x qualitative, 1x quantitative) were published in separate data packages. The present data package contains 13 scientific transcripts of expert interviews with study preparation staff at selected preparatory colleges and universities in Germany. The topics of the interviews included the experiences with study preparation for refugees in comparison to study preparation for other international study applicants. less

The present data package contains scientific transcripts of qualitative interviews with participants of study preparation courses of selected study colleges and universities in Germany. The interviews were oriented to the episodic interview method. 18 persons were interviewed, 11 of them twice. Topics of the interviews included the situation in study preparation, the study decision, and study entry. less

Motives, incentives and influencing factors for open science practices among open science award winners

In the course of the science policy agenda for the increased establishment of open science approaches in the last two decades, prizes and awards have also been developed and presented for this field of action. As part of a full survey of open science award... more winners in the German science system, qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted with this target group between September and December 2021, the transcripts of which are made available here for further scientific reuse. The transcribed data material was collected through episodic narrative interview forms supplemented by visual laddering techniques. For higher education research and science studies in especially, the data package offers methodological and content-related potential for further use. In this way, different questions of science and higher education research can be derived in depth in the context of central motive structures, incentive constellations and influencing factors for the anchoring of open science practices. Methodologically, the testing of the laddering interview technique for the first time in this subject area offers possibilities for reconstructing the motives and interests of higher education actors. In terms of content, corresponding award winners were interviewed for the first time for the object of study of open science practices, and a variety of questions about individual, institutional and technical factors in the context of the anchoring of open science practices can be newly applied to the data set. less

The 2017 graduate survey is the first collaborative project in the context of the DZHW graduate study series. The joint partners DZHW, INCHER, and ISTAT aim to take into account the interests of different user groups as comprehensively as possible. To this end, a jointly coordinated and redesigned instrument is to make it possible to take into account questions of both national education monitoring and higher education management and research (Fabian, Flöther & Reifenberg, 2021). Thematically, the 2017 graduate survey focuses on the transition to the labor market (or to further academic qualifications) and an initial labor market placement. The DZHW Panel Study: Careers of PhD Holders 2014 is a panel study of the DZHW concerning the careers of doctoral graduates. The study analyses how the formal context as well as the learning and development conditions that PhD graduates experienced during ... moretheir doctorate studies influence the transition into employment and the further development of their professional career, both within as well as outside academia. The basic population comprises all persons who obtained a doctorate degree from a higher education institution with the right to award doctorates in Germany in the examination year of 2014. The panel is designed as a census in order to generate a sufficiently high number of cases. Apart from basic data for the education report, the data set includes detailed information on the learning and development conditions during the doctorate studies as well as the career path of PhD holders after graduation. The data set also includes a range of personality traits (Big Five, self-efficacy, internal/external locus of control) together with background information on sociographic and educational biography. less
